BBBS receives generous donations from business

EMC News – Capital Movers and Storage graciously donated their staff, time and truck to pick up a piano and air hockey table from Mallorytown and delivered it to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds & Grenville office in Brockville, Friday, Nov. 4.

Jane Fullarton, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds & Grenville's executive director, poses with Capital Movers Staff during their move of a piano and air hockey table to the organization's office.

The piano and air hockey table were kindly donated by Gill Jefferson, Mallorytown resident.

Both of these items will be used by our “littles”, during activity nights and skills mentoring.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville would like to take this time to thank the staff at Capital Movers and Storage and Gill Jefferson. They have made a difference in the life of a child.

A little bit about the leadership at United Van Lines – what makes us a team to rely on!

Like Capital Movers and Walker’s Van & Storage, United Van Lines is itself a company with strong family traditions … seems that once it’s in your veins, the moving business, and the pursuit of perfect customer service, is hard to shake. The family component is a familiar theme at many of the member companies that make up United Van Lines and is reflected at the Van Lines’ head office where president Anne Martin carries on a tradition of excellence that her father stewarded and grew before her.

The Mississauga Business Times ran a profile of Ms. Martin recently, featured on their front cover.

Whatever the weather … we’re better together!

Capital played only a small part in this story but we’re very proud of our teammates in the United family, as well as our own fellow who lent a hand during one client’s tough move day …

Above And Beyond The Call Of Duty
Executive Offices – 20110809

Thanks to Todd Garland and Brian King of Fidler Moving & Storage (#196) and Chris Smulders of Capital Movers & Storage (#674) for providing outstanding service that went above and beyond the call of duty.  It was such a pleasure to receive the following e-mail from Major Mike Coyle regarding how impressed he was with the crew and the service he received.  Also shown below is an e-mail from me responding to Major Coyle.

Subject: Todd Garland’s CrewMs. Martin,Good day.  My name is Major Mike Coyle, and I recently relocated from Kingston to Toronto.  Fidler Moving & Storage took care of my move, and I was altogether impressed with their work ethic and professionalism.

In particular, I would like to single out the efforts of Todd Garland’s crew on Friday, the 29th of July.  On that day Kingston experienced a record rainfall, which resulted in flooding across the city in a few short hours.  My basement was affected, and as soon as it became clear there was a problem, the entire crew (Todd, partner, and temp hire from Kingston; my apologies, the names escape me) volunteered to form a human water line.  They literally paled large buckets of water up the stairs and outside for over an hour until the rain / flooding subsided.

Without question, their efforts significantly mitigated any damage to my basement.  I was so impressed with how quickly they volunteered to help out, clearly going well beyond their job responsibilities.  During a very stressful move period (in general), this group made a very profound difference.  I wanted to raise that to your attention in the event there was an opportunity to recognize their efforts formally.

Regards,
Mike Coyle

To:  Major Mike Coyle
Thank you Major Coyle, I appreciate your remarks so much. At this time of year we are overwhelmed by the volume of work so it is very gratifying when our crews go out of their way to help. I will make sure that all the people involved get a personal thank you and I will let the owner know in the same note. If I may have your permission, I will put your email in our newsletter next week.
Best wishes in your new posting and home,
Regards,
Anne Martin

piano prep 1

Capital pitches in for a pitch-perfect performance!

On January 21, 2011, four movers at Capital’s Kingston branch put their backs into giving back. Called on to donate time, expertise and fortitude, these strong fellows moved a concert grand piano from the floor to the stage in preparation for a benefit performance by the talented Abrams Brothers at Queen’s University. The piano had been tuned the day before but Capital’s careful and professional handling meant perfect harmony was maintained before and after the move! More >
